Federal Approaches to Period Poverty

Federal programs, including WIC and SNAP, do not cover menstrual products. Additionally, homeless shelters, until recently, could not use or apply for federal funds for menstrual products; federal prisons did not have menstrual products available for free. Some things are changing when it comes to making sure that everyone has access to necessary menstrual products, but this needs to be more integral to federal efforts.
